Summer in a Northern City
Hello, time travels; have to apologize for not being here for a while. We have been busy with a number of things.
- CRM for small and medium size enterprises (SMEs)
- Biofuel, bioreactors, bio-ethanol and visions about a future bio based economy
- Microbiological measurements applied to paper machines and cellulose processes
- Co-creation of a book about Open Enterprise (Enterprise 2.0) and my role being to write about collaboration and open global innovation 1970 – 2010; theme Virtual organisations in time
The book project consists of a team of 15 people dispersed around Finland. Most of the participants are working together for the first time. The lesson seems to be that radically new working models are working in teams with little or no previous corporate culture. Openness is fostered by the uniqueness and “the strangers” are motivated to work together for the common goal.
Back to Clubing
Thanks for your information about the Club. We've been looking into various new social collaboration and collaborative intelligence developments with Kurt and quite a few other high-tech entrepreneurs since Helsinki IST 2006 in November.
We see a growing interest for advanced innovative collaboration on a European scale among Finnish entrepreneurs. Technological platforms are needed for European wide business operations. I will soon introduce people with extensive knowledge in areas like
- CRM = customer relationship management
- RCM = reliability centered maintenance
- ECM = economy centered maintenance
- Trading = Global trading and networking models for SME's
- Knowledge Management = how to build learning environments for big companies
- Monetizin Intellectual Capital delivery over networks (on-demand, dvd, etc.)
Best regards

Third Day 2007
Hello everybody, we are spending our holiday seasons up north in Sotkamo. I've been doing some Future trend tracking, tried to establish an early estimate about what to focus on this year 2007. We're still here for a few days before we move back to Loviisa.
- Drupal - I've been reading and educating myself about Drupal, but still having some problems in positioning the features, benefits and advantages of Drupal, but I’ll continue my journey into the secrets of Drupal
- Web 2.0 and Mobile 2.0 convergence - Ubiquitous is certainly an important trend. But easy access and computing everywhere is still far away from the fluency of PowerPoint presentations. Podcasting seems to continue as a US centric phenomenon, but I think we’re going to see more and more seminars documented with mobile video (the Hussein video is a horrible example, but does show, how easy and powerful mobile photography and video documentation is becoming). Phone’s are with us everywhere and the younger generation is already used to share their pictures and videos.
- 2007 will be a year of experimentation. We are going to see more Video and IPTV, Personal and Independent Publishing, Web Conferencing and Online Collaboration (VoIP, Skype, GoogleTalk etc.), Mobile Group Text Messaging, Mobile Content Delivery and Distribution
We try to prepare our organization (KK-Net, Clients and Partners) for a much stronger position in the web 2.0 world by tapping into knowledge sharing and open source inspired innovation methodology.

Hello Europe - Helsinki IST 2006 is calling
We've a lot of interest for the European Microcompanies and research organisations collaboration. There are members already from 10 member states and the discussion formum has 2500 members. The IST 2006 is providing interesting insights into how
- Microcompanies collaborate on an European level
- How the research institutes and and microcompanies mashup
- How a cost-effective communication platform and humanistic orinted knowledge management can support various projects
- One essential thing is that you can get conected with human beings, entrepreneurs, living people, not institutional or organizational bodies
Web 2.0 Collaboration EU / Asian SMEs
On Wednesday, November 8, 2006, I participated in a seminar “Hong Kong – Guangdong Your partners for success in China – 8 November 2006 Helsinki.” The Scandic Hotel ball room was full of people. Couldn’t count them all, but I guess several hundred participants and maybe one hundred Chinese and Hong Kong business development officials, entrepreneurs and businessmen / women.
Rapid economic development in China has created major opportunities in two areas: a fast expanding market for goods and services, and a sophisticated production base for manufacturers and retailers. Successful companies realise that China is not one market, but a series of regional markets. Currently, most foreign companies concentrate to the Pearl River Delta region (PRD) on the southern tip of the Chinese mainland, closely connected to Hong Kong.
Why focus on the Greater Pearl River Delta?
This region offers the combined advantages of Hong Kong, with its international services and ease of business, and the PRD, which offers quality low-cost manufacturing and a growing consumer market. The PRD is also home to the Chinese mainland’s wealthiest consumers and highest spenders. Per Capita GDP and retail sales in the Greater Pearl River Delta are significantly higher than the Chinese mainland’s other regions, including the Yangtze River Delta region around Shanghai, and the Bohai region around Beijing.
Investing time and talent into Web 2.0
Investing time and talent. At the third annual Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco, dozens of industry players will gather to break down topics like Internet infrastructure, Net neutrality, mashups, data protection and the future of podcasting and especially video.
“Google has acquired JotSpot. Existing users: Rest assured — you will continue to have uninterrupted access to your JotSpot account! Our support team is still available to help you.” Is the information on JotSpot’s home page. Google is busy profiling itself as a leading Web 2.0 company. They move around with pockets full of money and go for innovative new ventures active within the Web 2.0 framework.
“But for any similarities to the late '90s Internet craze, today's Web 2.0 buildup is a kinder, gentler bubble, say entrepreneurs and investors.” Reports ZD Net.
